The Fairfax County Public School system serves almost 200,000 students in the Northern Virginia Area. Of the 196 elementary schools, 40 received Title I funding for the 2014-2015 school year. Also within Fairfax County Public School System, there are 22 high schools, many of which do not score higher than 60 on the College Readiness Index from the US News and World Report. Pyramid of Student Achievement strives to ensure that economically disadvantaged children have the tools to succeed in their education and in their lives. This means providing the resources and guidance necessary to improve their educational opportunities and in turn improve their success in life.
